Latest Update regarding Court Closure due to COVID-19
With the latest updates from the WA State Government’s Preventative Restriction of Activities Directions. The Kwinana Tennis Club have given special conditional approval for Smash Tennis Academy to operate one-on-one coaching at the club. Practice sessions with the 2 players per court are also allowed if Coaches or Committee members are present.
Unfortunately no other tennis is permitted for the moment (including the book a court and social tennis), so as to ensure Derek has full control over hygiene and access.
We are as keen as anyone to get our Club and courts operating again and will continue to reassess Club and court access as the situation unfolds.
For those of you that have the financial capacity to do so, please consider supporting Derek and his business and consider booking in for some lessons.
There are some restrictions:
two-person limit – coach and player only
maximum class length of one hour
no players over the age of 60, (or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people over the age of 50)
strict adherence to social distancing (1.5m) requirements
provision of antibacterial wipes for all equipment used and infrastructure touched (ie gates / door handles / taps) - by coach
supply of hand cleaning means, including hand sanitiser - by coach
drink fountains to remain closed and water supplied via tap to player’s personal drink bottle
toilet facilities are not to be made accessible to the public
If you have any questions, you can ring the Club Coach Derek Noble on

Important Announcement Please Read
WA Tennis Shutdown until further notice
WA Tennis Shutdown in response to COVID-19
To the WA Tennis Community
Instruction to cease, temporarily, tennis activity in Western Australia
Under the WA Government's Preventative Restriction of Activities Direction a person must refrain from undertaking or engaging in an affected activity. An affected activity includes a gathering of two or more people, who do not ordinarily reside at the same premises, for the purposes of participating in a sporting activity.
As a result of these new measures, Tennis West is advising that all Tennis Clubs, Club Activities and Coaching Activities must cease operations immediately:
All tennis clubs and centres are to close until further notice
All tennis programmes and coaching be cancelled, including one-on-one coaching
All club, association and social play be cancelled until further notice
All public court hire bookings to cease
Please note that under the Public Health Act 2016 (WA), it is an offence for a person to fail, without reasonable excuse, to comply with any of these directions, punishable by a fine of up to $20,000 for individuals, and $100,000 for bodies corporate.
We know our community loves our sport and that many people are looking for ways to remain fit and active whilst adhering to very strict social distancing guidelines. We are also acutely aware that this directive will impact the livelihood of our valued tennis coaches. However, this is a government mandate, and needs to be strictly adhered to by our tennis community.
We are exploring all appropriate options for resuming tennis in a safe way when health officials deem it safe. This pandemic and these exceptional circumstances will pass and we want to work with our partners to ensure tennis is back bigger and better than ever.
This is a challenging time for everyone, please stay home and stay safe.
CEO, Tennis West
If you have any questions, you can ring the Club Coach, Derek Noble
Phone: 0404043537 or email: kwinanatennisclub.com.au
Please stay safe and we will keep in touch.
Our thoughts today are with all those in our tennis community that may have lost their jobs, and those that have lost their main avenue for social interaction, fun and fitness… Which is almost all of us. Our thoughts are particularly with Derek Noble and the Smash Academy Tennis Team.
Closed temporarily for all tennis coaching and tennis programs by direction from Tennis West.
All other activities at KTC are postponed for now until further notice.
A huge Thank You to our Sponsors for their continued support

KWINANA TENNIS CLUB UPDATES:
THE FENCES ARE NEARLY COMPLETE WITH THE FIRST LOT OF FENCING AROUND THE COURTS BEING COMPLETED THIS WEEK. THE REST OF THE FENCES WILL BE FINISHED SOON BUT NO CONFIRMED DATE. TENNIS AUSTRALIA, CITY OF KWINANA AND KWINANA TENNIS CLUB HAVE COMBINED TO PUT A STATE OF THE ART PIN PAD SYSTEM AT THE CLUB TO HELP WITH EASIER COURT HIRING AT THE CLUB. COURT HIRERS WILL NOW BE ABLE TO BOOK COURTS ONLINE AND TYPE IN THE SPECIAL PIN NUMBER TO ENTER. THE TOTAL COST IS $15000 TO SET THIS UP AT A CLUB SO IT WILL BE A GREAT ADDITION. NEXT YEAR THE CLUB IS ALSO GETTING THE TOILETS/SHOWERS REPLACED WITH HELP FROM CITY OF KWINANA. ONCE THIS HAPPENS THE CLUB FACELIFT WILL BE COMPLETE AND KWINANA WILL HAVE ONE OF THE BEST/NEWEST FACILITIES IN PERTH. ON ANOTHER NOTE WE HAVE GONE THROUGH OLD TROPHIES AND CREATED A HISTORY PAGE ON THE WEBSITE. WE FELT THIS WAS A GREAT WAY TO RECOGNISE WHATS BEEN ACHEIVED IN THE PAST. WITH SOME OF THE TROPHIES BEING SO OLD WE TRIED TO MAKE SURE WE GOT ALL NAMES AND INFORMATION CORRECT BUT UNFORTUNATLEY SOME BITS WERE HARD TO READ. APART FROM THIS WE HAVE A MENS SATURDAY TEAM AND 5 JUNIOR TEAMS COMPETING IN WINTER COMP THIS SEASON AND ALL ARE TRAVELING WELL...

The courts have been resurfaced last year and as previously mentioned we have created a stunning clubroom with the addition of new floors, rendering, painting, modernising the kitchen and the new shade sails at the front of the club finish it off nicely.
In April we are getting new fencing around the club (including interior fencing). This will make the club look brand new with everything else above.
In 2019 we are also getting the clubs toilets and showers re built thanks to the City of Kwinana.
Social tennis Monday evenings (6.30pm), has been going great and Thursday mornings has always been accomodating to new players so come on down.
